hey i keep seeing all this stuff about todd howard and his wikipedia page? could you explain it to me, a simple peasant?

sonderingtrashcompactor:

Heck yeah! Idk what part you want explained so ill give a lil overview.

Todd Howard has been a subject of controversy for gamers and game companies for years. He was called one of the best game developers by IGN in 1999, but has angered fans of the Fallout franchise for drastically changing the lore and gameplay.

Todd Howard has been been the subject of several memes through the years like with Toddposting where a single photo of Todd is photoshopped (I’m pretty sure everyone knows the one)

Hes also featured in “Todd the Liar”(x), “Todd Coward”(x), “darnit Todd”, “looks bad Todd” “I know thats you Todd” (if anyone states that they like Fallout 4 or Skyrim) and “you can climb that mountain”(a quote addressing Skyrim), as well as many others

Todd is also known for re-releasing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim a large number of times (Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch)

Another reason why he’s so prevalent is from Polygon’s Monster Factory series where Griffin McElroy jokingly blamed Todd for gameplay issues and shutdown when absolutely destroying Fallout 4 using console commands to do things like spawn thousands of grenades (I recommend watching it)

So of course these memes leaked into Todd Howard’s Wikipedia page, which lead to it being protected until April 25, which was announced on said Wikipedia page.

The date became a countdown for several fans(?) who waited for that day to edit as many memes as possible into the Wikipedia before it became protected again. (Ironically April 25 is also Todd Howard’s birthday)

However, the news got to Wikipedia which lead to the continued protection of the page which led to several fans(?) becoming creative with their jokes.

Some fans edited Todd’s Russian Wikipedia page, or other pages relating to Todd Howard (video games, the definition of coward, etc) creating the gigantic mess that we get to see today! Some people theorize that there would have been less damage if the original page became unprotected on April 25 where fans would’ve just had a laugh and left instead of messing with other pages.

Heres a list of titles he’s worked on whose wikipedia articles are non protected soon (x)

And I think thats it? If i missed anything please add on!
