He stopped in front of the mirror and sighed. His penis was just a little too large to be fashionable, and his balls were just a little lopsided. Most days it didn’t bother him, but today he pushed at his genitals, trying to make them look more normal, like the men in magazines. It was hopeless. He dropped his junk in resigned frustration. There were worse things than having too large of a penis, he thought.

She walked towards the bar, not noticing the vagrants that shrank away as they saw her approaching. Freezing rain rolled off her back, but she’d long since learned to ignore the elements; they were just another thing that could distract you from the task at hand. Inside the bartender refused to meet her eyes and silently poured her the usual. A few young man gazed at her from their tables with a mixture of fear and curiosity, never daring to move closer but not being able to keep themselves from whispering to each other. She paid them no mind. Once again the balance of the human world and the underworld rested on her well muscled shoulders, and she couldn’t afford any distractions.
