I have to say, unlimited nipples was not something I studied in medical school. But I do know that fingertips usually regenerate, depending on how much is cut off.
Give me a moment… still adjusting to the tit-le title of Nipple Master.
Ok: unlimited nipples?
However, here’s my medical opinion/hypothesis as an Urgent Care doctor, without actual basis in “Thus Said My Med School Professor” nor “I saw this on a plastic surgery rotation once”:
Nipple tissue is a hormonally-sensitive tissue, and therefore is accustomed to undergoing structural remodeling during times of hormonal shifts (i.e., postnatal and pubertal periods in both males and females, pregnancy, lactation, menopause). As such, it would have greater regenerative capability than more “stable” dermal structures. Certainly, women who have suffered toddler-tooth trauma during breastfeeding often repair “nipped nips” without permanent scarring – BUT that type of trauma is usually only a gouge into the nipple, not a complete “avulsion” of the nipple from the underlying mammary skin/ducts.
So I would cautiously describe human female nipples to have “Potential Wolverine-Like Properties during times of sufficient hormonal stimulus (pregnancy, lactation) when undergoing partial trauma from gnawing baby teeth.”
But aside from that specific set of conditions, I certainly doubt that an adult human nipple, if intentionally sliced off by seductive scissors, would regrow into a “just like new” nipple afterwards – there would most likely be scarring and dysmorphic tissue in the healed nipple area, and there would CERTAINLY be doubts of your sanity by ME if you show up in my Urgent Care with this story.
